NW Music Spotlight – Mark Pickerel

KEXP spotlights Mark Pickerel and His Praying Hands

“The former drummer with Screaming Trees and Truly has played with a variety of artists through the years, including Neko Case, the Dusty 45’s and Brandi Carlile, along with releasing a couple solo records under the name of the Dark Fantastic. His latest project finds him focusing on noirish, country-tinged songs with roots in the music of Lee Hazlewood, Nick Cave and Ennio Morricone. Moody and atmospheric with some nice experimental touches, Snake in the Radio is one of the high points in Pickerel’s illustrious career.” – Don Yates

Here are a couple songs from Snake in the Radio, released earlier this week on Bloodshot Records

  • Forest Fire – (MP3)
  • Graffiti Girl – (MP3)

Mark Pickerel is performing tomorrow (May 12) at the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival (East Sussex, UK) with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio, Mudhoney, Fleasheaters, and more!

Catch Mark here in Seattle at Neumos on June 8 with Slender Means and Jesse Sykes!
