A big leap forward for Asobi Seksu.

New York based Asobi Seksu takes a big leap forward on their 2nd album of shoegazer-influenced dream-pop. While the ghosts of Lush and My Bloody Valentine can still be easily heard in the dense, swirling guitars and ethereal vocals, Citrus fleshes out their sound with stronger pop melodies along with a new – and tighter – rhythm section. Citrus is out next Tuesday, May 30.

Check out a couple songs…

New Years – (MP3)
Thursday – (MP3)
Red Sea (live at KEXP, 3/27/06) – (MP3)

What do you think?

What do I think? I can’t think. I’m too busy trying to pick up the pieces of my brain. I am stupefied. I am blown over. Those two songs, put on an EP, would be my favorite CD of the year. Must…have…Citrus.
