Two great in-studios today! Halou are performing live on The Morning Show at 9 am and The Walkmen will be live at noon on The Midday Show with Cheryl. Hope you can tune in! Here’s a little about Halou from Don…

“This San Francisco band just keeps getting better. Halou’s 3rd album Wholeness and Separation, seamlessly blends electronics with live instrumentation and Rebecca Coseboom’s gorgeous vocals for a dynamic set of adventurous trip hop ranging from aggressive, distortion-laden electro-rock to delicate, atmospheric ballads.” – Don Yates

Listen to a few samples from The Separation EP, released through Halou.com to coincide with the new album…

The Walkmen have a new record out called A Hundred Miles Off.

“We’re all very proud of this. I think it runs about 42 minutes, and its much more solid than the last record. There are no dips, so it is very different in that regard. We’ve always been pretty heavy, and this seems a little lighter. I mean, it still sounds like the same band. But it has a lot less organ involved. We tried writing from January of 2005 to July, and didn’t come up with one thing. It was very frustrating, but in July we finally wrote our first song, and it just was a relief, once we got that down. ‘Louisiana’ is light and fun sounding. We added a trumpet line, and it has a very Dylan ‘Basement Tapes’-era feel to it. But it’s a nod, not a ripoff.” – Hamilton Leithauser (vocalist/guitarist)

  1. […] Thanks to The Walkmen for their in-studio today… More excited than ever for the new record! I think Cheryl’s right, A Hundred Miles Off feels a little brighter, but still manages to maintain their signature sound… They were running a little late, but it was well worth it! Check it out on the Streaming Archive if you missed it and you can see The Walkmen tonight at The Showbox. […]
