Kevin snacks throughout the day to keep his blood sugar up. His favorite snack is the bagel. He regularly comes in with a small paper bag filled with four bagels. The bagels are made by Zatz in West Seattle but Kevin picks them up at the Metropolitan Market. Kevin’s favorite, and the only kind I’ve ever seen him eat, is the Zatz Seeded Bagel, which is covered in poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. Kevin doesn’t put anything on his bagel. He just eats it plain. I occasionally steal a bagel from him because they’re really good.
The thing about the bagels is that he doesn’t always eat all of them and you find small brown paper bags full of hard, stale bagels strewn around the office. This photo is a bag that was found this morning with one whole bagel about a leftover quarter of a bagel. Both are hard as rocks.
When I first met Kevin he brought in a bag of bagels every day. Earlier this year he decided that he was eating too many bagels and now only brings them in once or twice a week. He is experimenting with other snacks, but frankly, I don’t think anything will replace the Zatz Seeded Bagel.

How does one get a mug that says The Morning Faithful on it?
kevin’s been sweet enough to share these awesome bagels with me, and i can honestly say, they’re the best bagels i’ve ever eaten!!! :)
yeah, i’ve had one before, and they’re pretty tasty. however, they don’t have garlic on them! kevin apparently refuses to eat garlic if it’s not in hot foods. boo.
For the question about the morning faithful mug…shoot an email to the membership department and we’ll get it set up. The email address is membership “at” kexp.org.
As for bagels, I know I’m enjoying the delicious contributions from Bagel Oasis, who are fueling the volunteers and staff during this hectic drive. Woo bagels!

[...] It’s Day 3 of the Summer Pledge Drive! My pitch partner for the drive is DJ Jo, the newest member of our on-air staff. By day Jo is a powerhouse attorney. When she has time (and when we need her!) she fills in for various DJs. We’re lucky to have her here. And I’m lucky she’s my pitch partner! Some people might think we’re the Odd Couple. To get jacked up for our show Jo pounds down a couple of Red Bulls and a cupcake. Or two. Me? I go with the white tea for the smooth buzz. And maybe a bagel. [...]
