Three Imaginary Girls make their picks…

3girlsmod.jpgHello music fans! Imaginary Girl Dana here. igChar got stuck working late at her dayjob, and igLiz is feeling all sickly-sick {imaginary aside: who catches a cold in the heat of August??}. So you’re stuck with me for the recommended show picks of the week.

First of all – and I know this goes without staying – you ARE coming to the KEXP BBQ, right? C’mon, all the cool kids are coming… and while I’m only allowed to talk about half the bands playing, those two bands (Ghostland Observatory and The Long Winters) will rock your socks off while you munch veggie dogs with extra Dijon and swill delicious beer on the banks of Lake Union. As for the other bands… well, I can’t tell you which local garage rock supastars are opening the show, but I think the kind editors at KEXP might allow me say that 1) They have moves that defy yoga masters 2) Their debut release is an interrogative and 3) Their lead singer is a fox. Dig it? The show is this Sunday, it’s all-ages, and it’s mandatory you get your sweet ass down there. K? Phew. Glad we got that out of the way.

Next up – more great eats, drinks, and tunes on the lake. The South Lake Union Block Party has a positively spectacular line-up this year. I could gush on and on about it… um, so here I go! The two day festival (Aug 11 and 12) will feature performances from Sub Pop’s The Fruit Bats, Barsuk Record’s quirk-masters Aqueduct, haunting vocal stories from full calendar of events to plan your weekend accordingly.

Love you more than ketchup,
dana (and the sniffly liz and the overworked char)

ipod rotation:
Junior Private Detective
Camera Obscura
