What’s with all the rain in Seattle today? It’s POURING out there! Cats and dogs I tell you. I think I have to finally admit that summer is gone. It’s time to put my feet back in jail (Oh sandals and flip flops, how I love you). Chicago was insane. The number of outrageously good bands in that city is astounding. On the air alone last week we had Sally Timms, Jon Langford, The M’s, Catfish Haven, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Walter Meego, Moxie Motive, Devin Davis, The Changes and Eleventh Dream Day!! It was IN-SANE. The listeners there are some of the nicest folks you’ll ever want to meet. John took me to Wrigley Field, which I think is some big deal baseball park. The ivy on the walls behind the field were pretty and some player hit a grand slam (mmmmm, pancakes!) and it was his birthday. Evidently, that’s a big deal (mmmm, bacon).
I also went to the Touch and Go 25th Anniversary Party on their last of 3 incredible days and saw some of my favorite bands of all time. Three Mile Pilot played their first show in over 10 years and they sounded amazing. Black Heart Procession was incredible as well and then PINBACK. Mere words are not sufficient to describe how much I love that band. And, Calexico capped off an amazing evening. All in all, I give Chicago 2 thumbs up!! Thanks so much to the generous support of our Chicago listeners for winning the city to city challenge. We’re hard at work planning a circus style event for our Ballard listeners, who won the neighborhood to neighborhood challenge. Sereena-Maneesh are live in studio at noon today and that is gonna be awesome.
