Wilco fans, myself included, should be psyched for the release of a new DVD of live performance footage and interviews from Jeff Tweedy. It’s called Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest and it chronicles five nights of Jeff Tweedy’s solo acoustic tour from February 2006. Cheryl and I were fortunate to catch the show at The Moore here in Seattle, and I was really impressed. The performance was brilliant and he was really affable. He bantered with the crowd and paid considerable attention to a well intentioned fan who might have bordered on annoying. Jeff kept commenting on how dark it was in the crowd and that he couldn’t see a single person he was playing to. There’s a really cool shot in the DVD that demonstrates this. Imagine playing to an abyss like that! It might disconcerting or it might actually be kind of cool and exciting. The DVD is out tomorrow (Oct 24)… Check out this trailor and learn more about Wilco.
