This has been one hellava week. How could we possibly suggest anything to do other than rejoice? Well, this being one hellava city we have suggestions to make this week even more fun.

Saturday, 11/11: Celebrate Travel with Lonely Planet / Roadtrip Nation! {Elliott Bay Book Company}
Traveling is one of the best things in life. Even if the adventure is a Saturday of acting like a tourist in your own town, exploring outside of your comfort zone is an essential treat for the mind and soul. C’mon, how many folks have been to that slamming Museum of History and Industry? Or tooted a quacker on Ride the Ducks? Or Chunneled to Brussels for that matter?

Lonely Planet and Roadtrip Nation are rolling into town for an afternoon celebration of travel. From 2pm to 5pm, attendees can enjoy free food, drink, and inspiration to explore their surroundings, both near and far. There will be a special screening of the PBS documentary, Roadtrip Nation at 2:30, followed by a chat with a Lonely Planet travel expert/guidebook author (on the Caribbean, South and Central America), and the opportunity to tour the Roadtrip Nation RV.

We all need a kick in the pants to set aside the necessary time and funds to take that trip we know we should take and haven’t. This Saturday will likely serve as that motivating force to start planning (and saving). 2007 could be your year of the Chunnel!

Thursday, 11/16: Minus The Bear/Slender Means/Sirens Sister/Russian Circles {Neumos}
Start your weekend early and head on down to Neumo’s to see tig favorites Minus the Bear and Slender Means. Pop-perfect local cuties Slender Means will charm you with their pitch-perfect harmonies and buoyant melodies while Minus the Bear’s syncopated smart math rock, crisp beats and structured guitar will firmly lodge itself in your head for the weekend.

Don’t clean up the confetti yet,
dana, liz, char
