“Solid debut EP (and second release) from the blossoming local quartet led by singer/songwriter Jared Sprinkle. With lyrics that are emotionally-wrenching but palatable, and melodies that are undeniably infectious, Man Plus’ dark pop concoctions frequently look back to the 60s while utilizing a 21st century mentality. Their initial reliance on spastic keyboards has been balanced with refined guitar-driven tracks, yet the group’s brooding angst still controls the spotlight, accented by Jared’s husky delivery and painfully honest narratives. Short and sweet, We Had No Sex is a record that manages to get better with each listen.” - Alex Ruder (Programming Intern)

I had the pleasure of seeing both Man Plus and the Wise Guys at the Beacon Pub earlier this month and both bands were basically awesome. As in awe-inspiring. Jared interacted with the crowd and really did put all of himself into his performance (as did the rest of the band, including the one armed drummer) which I didn’t expect considering it was such a small venue with no cover, etc... And the Wise Guys were beyond entertaining. The Cure cover was definitely my favorite part of the show.
I’m excited for the show tonight, it’s the perfect way to start the week.
Man Plus are my favorite Seattle band! Glad to see kexp is playing them. Keep the record spinning!

[...] My boy Alex over at KEXP spotlights Man Plus. They’ll be at High Dive this Monday, which is where I will be too, as they are close friends of SOTS from our movie store clerk days. Lead singer Jared is a charismatic performer who lives to be in the spotlight and puts out 100% whenever I see him.
