S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT!

Two matchless line-ups on the same night (Saturday, 11/18) force friends to divide and conquer to make sure a rock show does not go unturned. Read their cases:

Saturday, 11/18: Math & Physics Club/BOAT/Lonely Forest/Eux Autres {Vera, YMCA Fusion Café}
One of imaginary Liz’s favorite albums last year was the House Full of Friends compilation released by Magic Marker Records. A consistent sing-along favorite is a track right there in the beginning (track 7 of a colossal 34-track comp). “le project citron” is a 4-minute track of wacked-out euro-stylee indie-pop bliss from Portland brother/sister duo Eux Autres. For that reason alone, imaginary Liz has been counting down to this show for months. Sure, two of her favorite bands of all time (Math and Physics Club and BOAT) are also on the bill, but the chance of seeing drummer Heather melodically screech while guitarist Nicholas chats in French makes her exceedingly giddy. EA (she can’t figure out how to say their name either) have certainly charmed our dear friend with their coarse, cute, clever and cosmopolitan songs. Join her at 7p sharp at the YMCA Fusion Café (it’s an early all-ages show and EA take the stage first!).

Saturday, 11/18: The Grates/Visqueen/The Village Green/ Pleasurecraft {Neumo’s}
The Grates are every girl-fronted band that you’ve loved the past five years combined into one awesome Australian package. At times they sound sweet and poppy like Dressy Bessy, other times lead singer, Patience Hodgson, gets her soulful Beth Ditto on. Just when you think you’ve pinpointed all of their influences, they pull out a little of the rockin’ Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Roll them up on a bill with local danceable party poppers, Pleasurecraft, TIG favorites Visqueen and Portland rockers, Village Green and you’ve got an imaginary girl (or two) waiting outside Neumo’s for the doors to open and getting kicked out when the music stops playing.
