Very Merry Imaginary Karaoke Bash!

This is the first time since we’ve been blogging for KEXP that Three Imaginary Girls has had a huge BASH. For those of you not familiar with imaginary parties of this magnitude… let’s just say that we’ve never been the sort of girls who toss out chips, salsa, and a keg and call it a party. We heart parties. We come up with crazy schemes, then we plan and plan and plan some more, and then we throw (what feels like) epic, awesome parties (if we may say so ourselves). We take party planning to the level of obsession, and in the final week of planning, become so consumed with the event that we can think/breathe/write about little else.

So it should come as no surprise that today’s blog, which comes on the day of our Very Merry Imaginary Karaoke Bash, will focus exclusively on said party. So… here’s the scoop. We’re going to start off with a timetable of events, since the Very Merry Imaginary Karaoke bash is extremely over-flowing with activities.

Here’s the timeline for the night… Friday evening, December 8th at the Crocodile Café…

* 8p: Tiny Vipers acoustic set
* 8:30p: Fruit Bats acoustic set
* 9p: Jim Noir set
* 9:40: Rockstar karaoke, raffles, and general merriment begins!!
* This event is 21+
* Tickets are $10 — and yes, this gets you into BOTH shows

{Helpful imaginary hint: Tickets are also halfway sold out. We strongly recommend you reserve yours right now at Ticketweb.}

…And here are the juicy details!

The night starts at 8p with a pre-party with acoustic sets from members of Sub Pop artists Fruit Bats and Tiny Vipers, and a very special performance from Barsuk Records’ Jim Noir.

Then just after 9:30p, the rockstar karaoke begins!!! The night will feature performances by members of Math & Physics Club,Iceage Cobra, Head Like a Kite, Schoolyard Heroes, Speaker Speaker Kane Hodder, Optimus Rhyme, the Pale Pacific, the Elephants, We Wrote the Book on Connectors, The Trucks, A Gun That Shoots Knives, Central Services, The Pharmacy, Tullycraft, Night Canopy, Dita Vox, Shorthand for Epic KEXP DJ Troy Nelson (and maybe Larry Rose too)… as well as a few super secret special guests who are prepared to rock your holiday stockings off!

The event will also feature the amazing John Roderick of the Long Winters as Indie Rock Santa, plus tons of raffle prizes from imaginary favorite record labels like Merge, K Records, Magic Marker, Blue Disguise, Suicide Squeeze, Polyvinyl, Wind-Up, and Pattern 25 Records to bulk up your end-of-year CD collection. Event supporters Sub Pop, Barsuk, and Seattle Sound magazine will also be providing extra-goodie gift packs for lucky audience members to win. That’s our way of wishing you a happy imaginary holiday season!

Three frequently asked questions about the party…

Q. Will the ticket get me into both shows?
A. Yep! The $10 ticket gets you into both the Sub Pop/Barsuk pre-show as well as the rockstar karaoke bash.

Q. I like to karaoke too! Can I come sing?
A. Yep! We will also be taking karaoke singers from the audience, like at regular karaoke nights… except at regular karaoke nights, you don’t get to sing through the sound system at the Crocodile. That’s big fun! We do recommend that if you want to sing, you turn your slip in super early. With over 20 rockstars on the bill, the karaoke roster is full for sure.

Q. Will everyone be singing Christmas songs?
A. Nope. While holiday jams are certainly a possibility, all karaoke songs are welcome.

We’ve been very good imaginary girls this year. All we want for xmas is {to see} you {there} on Friday night!!!

ho-ho-ho and a bottle of {hot buttered} rum,

    […] Fellow seattle music bloggers Three Imaginary Girls are having their Holiday Karaoke bash tonight, with special acoustic sets by Jim Noir and Fruit Bats, and John Roderick of the Long Winters as Indie Rock Santa. They have the schedule of this packed night of events over at the KEXP blog. I effing love the Fruit Bats. We’re going to try and make it and sit on Santa’s knee. […]
