Happy birthday to our savior... imaginary girl Liz! There’s nothing that’s more of a bummer than sharing a birthday with a religious icon. You get completely robbed in the gift department, and everyone is so busy paying attention to Christmas that you tend to lose out in the party area too.
Imaginary Girl Liz is one of the unlucky ones born far too close to the flashing lights and tinsel of Christmas. For this reason, every year Three Imaginary Girls throws a birthday bash for her at the Crocodile featuring great bands, nummy cupcakes, and good times – and then we dedicate the money to Liz’s favorite charity. And this year is no exception. So... without further ado, we cordially invite you to...
igLiz’s Birthday Party and Orphan Christmas Show!! This Saturday, December 23rd at the Crocodile Café:
First up, the dulcet tones of Patience Please will captivate your senses. Next, the power-pop sensibilities of Shake Some Action will rock your socks off. And bonus – tonight is the CD release show for Shake Some Action, so if you need a stocking stuffer or two, you can pick one right up. To close the night, Seattle indie heavyweights BOAT will make all your Christmas wishes come true with their off-beat, lo-fi pop goodness.
Plus the whole night benefits Treehouse For Kids, a fabulous non-profit that helps make sure every foster kid in Seattle has something good from Santa under the tree at Christmas time.
And between sets, we’re certain Jim the Soundguy will play Liz’s Best of 2006 mix CD. If you ask real nice, she might even burn you a copy. Liz is all kindsa nice like that.
And speaking of the best releases of 2006, have you voted yet in our Best Northwest Releases of 2006 Reader’s Poll?? If not, better get on that! Go make your vote count (and make sure you vote in the KEXP poll too).
We know many of you are out of town or otherwise obligated this Christmas weekend. But if you’re gonna be in Seattle – you’ve gotta make it to the Crocodile.
Now... anyone have a good recipe for some cupcakes...? ;)
Good will toward men (and girls),
dana, liz, char
