Last year, KEXP kicked-off the Community Partnerships program by featuring Seattle Works, a local non-profit dedicated to informing, connecting and inspiring people in their 20s and 30s to take action in our community. And the community stepped up.
Since then, KEXP and Seattle Works have been working together on a host of different activities – Seattle Works helps recruit volunteers to come in to help with KEXP membership mailings and pledge drives, and KEXP volunteers have formed a team through Seattle Works that does even more volunteering at different organizations throughout the city each month.
This year, KEXP is sponsoring Seattle Works Day. On Saturday, June 9, get your friends together to join more 1,000 people at urban green spaces to help our city stay green.
How does Seattle Works Day work? Participants complete service projects at greenspaces (parks, trails, community gardens) across the city from noon-3:30. After that, everyone heads to Seattle Center for an AfterParty with food, Pyramid beer and live entertainment.
You can pull together you own team or sign up to be part of the KEXP team. Registrations are $30, which includes project, party and an awesome shirt designed by Casual Industrees. All ages are welcome to register. Proceeds benefit Seattle Works.
