KEXP Residencies: Austin & Chicago

Thanks to our members, KEXP is able to sponsor two monthly residencies, one in Austin and one in Chicago, in our ongoing effort to support music scenes outside of the Northwest.

Hot Freaks + Gorilla vs. Bear residency at The Mohawk in Austin

Along with The Onion, Dallas’ And/Or Gallery, and Austinist, KEXP, is sponsoring the Hot Freaks + Gorilla vs. Bear residency at The Mohawk each month. On the first four Tuesdays of this month, you can catch Austin band Low Line Caller and Dallas band Tree Wave.

Here’s the schedule:

June 5 – Low Line Caller (with Noise Revival Orchestra)
June 12 – Tree Wave (opening act TBA)
June 19 – Low Line Caller (with Shapes Have Fangs)
June 26 – Tree Wave (opening act TBA)

Equalizer at Darkroom in Chicago

Every first Thursday of the month, Equalizer, features a live music showcase of independent local, regional, and national touring bands at Chicago’s darkroom. This Thursday, June 7, KEXP, along with darkroom, and The Chicago Reader present a full lineup of City Electric, The Pumps, SundayRunners, DJ Johnny Kesh and DJ Mikey Dance Panther. This this cover for this 21+ show is only $7. Doors at 9pm.
