Two Gallants, Emo’s 4/29/05
Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Midday Show host Cheryl Waters, is Seems Like Home To Me
by Two Gallants from their 2007 The Scenery of Farewell EP, available on Saddle Creek.
Two Gallants – Seems Like Home To Me (MP3) Originally on
Alive Records, Two Gallants’ lyric-driven, southern-folk storytelling made an impression on Conor Oberst of
Bright Eyes, gaining the band access to the Saddle Creek label for their 2006 release
What the Toll Tells. Adam Stephens (guitar/vocals) and Tyson Vogel (percussion) have been playing the songs on their latest EP for some time, perfecting them during sound checks and radio appearances as studio time was impossible to come by. Sure to gain them a wider audience, this lengthy EP will have fans singing their praises until the third LP drops in September. For a little bit of everything, head over to the band’s
website and
MySpace page. Here is a video of the guys performing at Seattle’s Easy Street Records:
