Three Imaginary Girls Recommend Two Very Real Girls

There are surprising few bands that all three imaginary girls can enthusiastically gush over – while we’re all avid music fans, we each have our own quirks and tastes. When it comes to Tegan and Sara, however, we all get giddy. Their last record, So Jealous, got avid airplay on all three of our iPods, and we all got superfan nervous when we met and interviewed Tegan back in 2004.

The fact that Chris Walla of Death Cab worked on their forthcoming new release, The Con, only makes us heart them more. The fact that they’re touring like made brings teardrops to our imaginary eyes…

Wednesday, 7/18 and 7/19: Tegan and Sara and the Triple Door and at Easy Street Records
Tegan and Sara have been very busy lasses the past year, and their up-coming touring schedule isn’t letting them relax. Lucky for us, this means they’ll be playing three shows and an in-store in 2007 – and three of these four events are happening this week.

All this hubbub is to promote their new album, The Con, which will be released July 24. Native Canadians Tegan and Sara made a temporary move to Portland in January to record The Con with Chris Walla in his studio. Also making musical appearances on this album are Jason McGerr (Death Cab for Cutie) and Matt Sharp (the Rentals).

Now for the semi bad news: both Triple Door shows on Wednesday and Thursday are sold out. BUT they are playing an in store at Easy Street Records on Thursday (the exact time is TBD) and they’ve also added another show on December 3 at the Showbox (and with Northern State to boot!). Hopefully the Showbox will be large enough to hold all of Seattle’s Tegan and Sara fans, but you should get tickets as soon as you can, just to be safe.

Love you like a (twin) sister,
three imaginary girls

High iPod rotation:
Feral Children
Maximo Park
The Horrors

I’ve just been informed that the Tegan and Sara CD release has been pushed back to 7/30. Re-mark your calendars!

Never mind my last comment, apparently it’s the VINYL that’s on hold until the 30th. Sorry!
