KEXP’S local music show Audioasis is the longest running local music show on Seattle radio? The show started in 1982 and was dubbed “Audio Oasis” by Jon Kertzer (the current host of Best Ambiance).
The show, which airs every Saturday from 6 PM to 9PM, focuses on artists from all over the Pacific Northwest. Music from Southern British Columbia to Northern California and from Western Washington to Idaho is equally at home in a typical Audioasis set.
Over the years Audioasis has been hosted by local luminaries Jonathan Poneman of Sub Pop, Stevie Zoom of KEXP, Jason Hughes of Sonic Boom Records, and Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger. Today’s Audioasis crew is John Richards, Abe Beeson, Lisa Wood and Hanna Levin.
As part of the KEXP Community Partner Initiative, Audioasis broadcasts live from the High Dive as part of a benefit show for a different local charity every first Saturday featuring live local bands.
