Buy me! C’mon it’s for a good cause. My favorite cause: KEXP! Once again pieces of our great station are up for grabs and this time around you can get overnight DJs.
Currently the empty wall is going for about 7 times the price that I am. It’s just an empty wall – WTF? I mean really, us overnighters put a lot of thought (and coffee) into our shows. We stay up until 6 in the bloody morning while still holding down regular 9 to 5s. Why? Because it’s fun, and bringing you great music is totally worth it. All the wall does is just sit there. It probably doesn’t own any original Stax 45s or even know Kurt Cobain’s middle name. Sure it holds up the station, but whatever.
May I also recommend the new CDJ-1000s. I can’t f#@king wait for these to be installed! Or maybe it’d be even better if you bought that John In The Morning Hobbit. I hate that thing. Every time I go to John’s office with a question I look in his window, see the Hobbit thing, think it’s John, and then realize he’s got a sword. Then I walk away thinking maybe now’s not a good time to bother John. How can he work with that thing in there?
There’s nothing like KEXP and we’d be nothing without your support. Thanks! Buy me! …Or the wall. Really though, could the wall recommend some awesome hip-hop DVDs to rent? I don’t think so.
The Freshest Kids: A History of the B-Boy (2001) Another killer doc. B-Boy, Break-Boy, Break-dancer… get it? No? Then watch this.
Style Wars (1982) Probably my favorite documentary, seen it 100 times. Get the scoop on graf. Tons of killer footage.
Beat Street (1984) The music and break-dance explosion of the summer!(so they say) Hollywood’s version of ‘80s hip-hop, but done well.
Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984) I don’t recommend this movie, but the title is super classic. This is THE 2 with which all other 2s must compete.
Wild Style (1982) Why should you watch this? Just watch this YouTube clip…
