The huge music event takes place on September 14 and 15 at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado, just outside of Denver. Monolith Festival presented by Esurance will feature 5 stages and over 50 bands — all set in the open-air Amphitheatre, where you can be one with nature and music. I couldn’t think of a better backdrop and acoustics anywhere else in the US. I have waited years for a festival of this magnitude to finally entice me out to such a majestic place. The wait is over!
It features an incredible lineup including Spoon, Editors, Flaming Lips, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Decemberists, Cake, Kings of Leon, Cloud Cult, Ghostland Observatory and Art Brut. As well as newbies Mason Proper, Ra Ra Riot, White Rabbits, Laylights, Hot IQs and Gregory Alan Isakov. All bands you’ll hear more about very soon. I promise. For a full listing, check out the official Monolith Festival site.
It’s not all about the music though. Monolith is an environmentally responsible event which promotes carbon neutrality and recycling. A couple days before the event, they’ll plant Juniper trees as part of a reforestation project. And next year, they have even greener plans.
I’ll have a full report on KEXP’s blog after the festival so stay tuned.
We have a pair of free tickets to give away for this two day event!
If you’re going to be in the area and would like to go, email us before 5 pm (PST) on Labor Day. We’ll randomly select a winner.
