Just before Art Brut’s performance packed performance at the Bumbershoot Music Lounge, KEXP correspondent Travis Baer trapped lead singer/talker Eddy Argos in the hallway and forced him to answer a few questions:
|T: What has been your favorite show of the summer so far?
E: They have all been great. A couple of days ago we played a free show in Stockholm. There were tons of kids there. I think that might have been a favorite.
T: A while ago you appeared on the cover of NME magazine nude, mimicking the cover shot of Beth Ditto from the gossip…
E: Oh, yes the one I did in the buff.
T: So how and why did you end up doing that?
E: It was the magazine’s idea. They came to me with it and I though that it would be funny. It was not a stab at Beth Ditto or The Gossip. I actually like them a lot.
T: Lily Allen or Amy Winehouse?
E: Amy Winehouse. I like her songs a bit more, although I prefer Kate Nash. She is the new Lily Allen.
T: Are you excited to see anyone else at the festival?
E: I wanted to see the Spelling Bee, but we are playing at the same time as it. I am looking forward to Ted Leo and the Pharmacists tomorrow.
