Hooray for guerrilla marketing! First, we had a band show up at our doorstep and play a live set for KEXP staff and any random passersby — and they were earnest enough to turn what could have been a weird stalker-y situation into a fun afternoon. Now, in an equally earnest gesture, local band The Translucents, whom nobody at the station was aware of before, left their CD at our doorstep with the note you see attached in this photo. Keep in mind that we get a lot of CDs at this station, literally hundreds each week, and yet still this note struck a chord in Morning Show host John Richards, who knows from being up at ungodly hours of the morning, and so he played it on his show today. It’s good! Worth checking out. And to completely fulfill the prophesy of the note, we’re telling you about it.
To find out more about the band and listen to a few of their songs, go to theirMySpace page. They’re playing at the Mars Bar and the High Dive next month.
Oh, and we’re checking our security tapes to make sure that they really were here at 2am!

I checked out a Translucents’ show awhile back and they were definitely worth a spin or two (or more!) on the radio… only I missed it when you played it! I’d love to hear them a few more times on KEXP : )
