Event Spotlight: John in the Morning at Night 9/22/07

Years ago I realized that I really won’t be able to go out any more… getting up at 4am every day and getting older is no way to see shows. You can survive with the hundreds of in-studios and events we have here but, man, a good ol’ weekend out with many beers and many greats bands is a must for any music fan… especially now that you can’t smoke in clubs. You don’t even stink in the morning! Well, unless you vomit all over yourself but I don’t want to bring up the Morning Show Dance Party. That was retired due to that notorious evening….

So the thought really is to just get the best up-and-coming bands possible to play a show for just us MF in one of the great clubs in town. I couldn’t have put together a bill any better than this one to fill that description! We open with two very different but very awesome local bands: Joy Wants Eternity have put out such a great record of moody atmospheric rock and Das Llamas have blown a lot of people away with their Joy Division influenced post-rock masterpiece.

The night continues with no less than two of the hottest and exciting bands in the UK right now: Jamie T and Maps. Seeing them in a club that holds 500 people would be impossible in other parts of the world… and soon in ours. Vampire Weekend… not sure how much more I can say about them that I haven’t already. Easily the most exciting band putting out music in 2008! You’ll be one of the first if you go to this show. Last time I checked, we’re down to about 35 tickets. So get yours now and see you there! Get there early, I’ll be broadcasting live from the bar in the back at 6pm.
