Another batch of worthwhile releases comes your way this week, and while there are very few breath-holders on the list, there are quite a few albums that you’ll want to add to your ever-growing library. Topping the list for many music fans is Bruce Springsteen’s return to E Street form with Magic. Siouxsie Sioux, who goes by just Siouxsie on her true solo debut, Mantaray, is sure to draw aging goths to the record stores, where they will likely pick up PJ Harvey’s latest as well. Brits Richard Hawley and The Pipettes, get American-styled releases today, while veterans Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Chuck Prophet, and Annie Lennox add another new one to the pile. Even more entrenched veterans see retrospectives and collections come out, like Mick Jagger, Merle Haggard, Ike & Tina Turner, John Fogherty, and J.J. Cale. The good folks at Austin City Limits have released a few more from their “Live from Austin, TX” series, including a 1975 session with Doug Sahm. A few early Christmas presents arrive, including a collection of Yule tidings from Over the Rhine. And then, of course, there’s the indie rock: from iLIKETRAiNS, Division Day, We Are Wolves, The Most Serene Republic, and so on. For a full list, check out Largehearted Boy’s weekly roundup.

For now, try a few of these before you head over to your favorite store. The first band up, 1900’s, will be part of our live broadcast from Chicago starting tomorrow. They will be on the air Thursday at 7:00 am PST for all of you early risers.
