Yesterday’s round-up of freaky new releases inspired me to choose some off-beat new videos for this round of Video Roundup:
While the latest album, Window City, by The Fiery Furnaces is perhaps their most accessible, it’s still a Fiery Furnaces record, so you know it’s going to be quirky, as is the video here, featuring the animal costume-wearing brother and sister duo of Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger. The latest video by Montreal band Stars isn’t strange so much for the song, which is actually quite beautiful, as for the odd stuff animal of unidentified origin who, after being left behind from a shelf of more normal looking stuffed animals, journeys outward, into the city and beyond (or does he?). Oddly amusing (or amusingly odd). Here’s “Window Bird”:

You’ll figure out quickly why this otherwise normal male/female relationship depicted in British crooner Richard Hawley‘s latest video, for “Serious,” just isn’t right:

Our friends at Hot Freaks!, a collective of reputable music bloggers (and with whom we sponsor regular shows in Austin), held a killer after-party during the ACL festival last month. Partnered with Dell Music Lounge, Hot Freaks! presented Grizzly Bear, Art Brut, The Rosebuds, and a bunch of other great artists over a two day period and captured the performances on video. You can see all of the videos at the Dell Music Lounge, but here’s an outstanding video of Grizzly Bear performing “Knife” on September 14:
