The Valley tolerate DJ Troy
Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Afternoon Show host Kevin Cole, is Cruiser
by The Valley from their 2007 self-titled EP.
Though the grunge era has long since passed, Seattle has never outgrown its image as the birthplace of that massive movement. When a band like The Valley comes along, there is a collective rejoicing that the image still lingers. Angst-riddled guitars, pummeling percussion and vocals to match are yet to go stale in any corner of the globe and the members of The Valley are cashing in. Their song Come Down
was recently featured as the song of the day on NPR. They will be playing Sunday 11/11 at the Funhouse as well as several other Seattle and Tacoma dates in the coming months. Listen to the free samples on their MySpace page, and then get yourself to the Funhouse on Sunday to support yet another great local band.
