imaginary dana with Visqueen

There are few bands that unite all of us at Three Imaginary Girls like Seattle band Visqueen. The power-pop trio turned four-piece formed back in 2002 when TIG did, and since that time we’ve played their records (2003’s King Me and 2004’s Sunset in Dateland) to death and have seen the band play live countless times. We even enlisted Visqueen’s dazzling and sassy frontwoman Rachel Flotard to write a love advice column for our website, called Love is Hard.
Suffice it to say, we’ve been clamoring for a new Visqueen release for quite some time now… and this week, our wish nearly came true!!! No, there’s still no official CD available, but Visqueen has posted four new songs to their MySpace page. FOUR NEW VISQUEEN SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes, the event warrants each and every exclamation point shown, and then some). The four tracks – “Forgive Me,” “Ward,” “Hand Me Down,” and “Beautiful Amnesia” — are power-pop nuggets at their finest and are already some of our favorite Visqueen songs to date. Go have a listen right here.
And better still, you can go see Visqueen perform these songs live when Visqueen opens for New York’s The Walkmen on Saturday night, November 17th at Neumo’s. According to her MySpace bulletin, she “might even wear a dress she’s so amped.”
Visqueen takes the sting out of our hearts,
three imaginary girls
