It’s a rare occurrence to find a band that doesn’t sound like anything else out there. Yeasayer’s debut, All Hour Cymbals (We Are Free), immediately comes off as totally original and totally nostalgic. At times recalling the more explorative Peter Gabriel and David Byrne, this Brooklyn quartet wraps global inspirations inside a psychedelic-rock framework. Best of all, the band likes to mash it up live, all the more reason to stop listening to them on your iPod and head to the Showbox for Saturday’s Yule Benefit.
