Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Midday Show host Cheryl Waters in anticipation of the 5th Annual Yule Benefit, is Me, Me, Just Me
by Feral Children from the 2007 album Second to the Last Frontier on Buffalo Shoe Recordings.
For all the hardcore-leaning listeners out there who needed a little more coaxing to go to Saturday’s Yule Benefit, look no further than Feral Children. Come Saturday, anyone still on Santa’s good list is switching sides. FC pack a punch stronger than any cocktail the 21+ crowd will imbibe. Since we last featured FC and another new track of theirs, Jaundice Giraffe,
the news surrounding them has been all about their tour schedule. Tonight they’re playing Chop Suey along with Twiggy (former Marilyn Manson bassist) Ramirez’ band Goon Moon. The band also has a West Coast tour lined up for January, and according to their MySpace page, will appear at SXSW 2008. What better reason to support this band right now? Check out the video of the band showcasing their dynamism at a recent performance at Easy Street Records in Seattle — on yesterday’s Video Roundup.
