Three Imaginary Girls Recommend: There’s something Fishboy going on…

Liz originally fell in love with Fishboy when she saw them earlier this year at the Athens Popfest. Since then, they’ve released one of her favorite albums of the year (Albatross: How We Failed To Save The Lone Star State With The Power Of Rock And Roll) that chronicles our hero’s fight to save Texas with music and shenanigans. During the course of this indie-popera they encounter “Proper Name Spelling Bees” and taqueria stands. How could you know be compelled to follow them around as they tour the Pacific Northwest?

In case you haven’t been lured in by the sweet posters our gal Kiku designed up for us, here’s the scoop:

Tonight, Friday 12/7 at the Comet Tavern, the bill features BOAT, “Awesome”, Fishboy, and Eux Autres.

Tomorrow, Saturday 12/8, head up to Anacortes with Liz to see them at the fabled Department of Safety. The all ages show will rock with Tullycraft, Fishboy, Eux Autres, and The Oregon Donor.

For those that aren’t sold yet, you can get sample some Fishboy without fear. The band has posted the full Albatross album at for your listening pleasure.

And if you’re keeping track, you’ll notice that Portland’s well-dressed duo Eux Autres will be playing both shows as well. They’ve just released their album Cold City (on Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records, their Fishboy lablemates, dontcha know) and they’ve solidified themselves as White Stripes for the vintage 60’s French Film sect. It’s a sweet lo-fi, and shimmers with jagged simplicity.

Liz’s hope is that by the end of the weekend, she’ll have enough bravery to have a conversion with someone in Eux Autres. She’s so intimidated by their cool and super-stylish ways.
