Live at KEXP Volume 3: Ghostland Observatory

If you’re looking for a last-minute holiday gift, don’t forget to pick up Live at KEXP Volume 3 for a friend, loved one, or yourself. It’s only available through the end of the year, which is just a week away. After that, you’ll have to hit eBay ’cause we won’t be selling it any more!

One of the exclusive live performances on Live at KEXP Volume 3 comes from the always-amazing Ghostland Observatory, who continually blow audiences away at their live shows — and many KEXP listeners know it, as the Austin band has performed several KEXP events and in-studios over the past few years.

Here’ what Morning Show host John Richards had to say about first witnessing Ghostland Observatory’s live act:

Ghostland Observatory“It’s rare when you see a band actually PERFORM in an in-studio like they are in front of 10,000 people but that’s Ghostland. We had heard how amazing they were live so we booked em for our NYC remote and about 20 listeners came by to witness a cross between Prince, Willie Nelson and James Brown make love to an in-studio session. Seriously. Their performance blew everyone away and Cheryl and I looked at each other and mouthed “BBQ” and booked them right there. The following summer, in the hot summer sun they showed 2,000 people what blew us away in NYC. That night they parked their van in the station parking lot and stayed at the hotel next door so that they could come back the next day to play another live in-studio. Somehow that was even better.”

Proceeds from Live at KEXP Volume 3 go directly to KEXP programming, which means you can help support services like podcasting. Be sure to pick up a copy by ordering online or visiting any of these Seattle stores: Cellophane Square, Easy Street, Everyday Music, PCC Natural Markets, Silver Platters, and Sonic Boom Records.
