Monday News: The Festivals! The Grammys!

SXSWBonnaroo

  • We start off the week with news from upcoming festivals. Stereogum announces the Bonnaroo lineup, puzzlingly at first, but then gives us the real details. A few of t he many names that will entice KEXP listeners to make the journey: Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, Kanye West, Death Cab For Cutie, M.I.A., Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and a whole lot more.
  • Meanwhile, a list of every band playing SXSW is now available here. Pitchfork also tips us off to some good things going on at Glastonbury, including Leonard Cohen, Kings of Leon, Hot Chip, The Verve and Jay-Z!
  • Godspeed You! Black Emperor was rumored to have disbanded after a hiatus since 2003. According to an interview with Drowned In Sound, the band blamed tension because of the Iraq war. However, Pitchfork double checked and found it to be a misquote and claims Godspeed still on hiatus. GSYBE! member Efrim Menuck confirms the error.
  • Radio Free Chicago leads us to a sweet new Gnarls Barkley track. Expect the new album, The Odd Couple, on April 15.
  • Speaking of new records, Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis is planning a sequel to her first solo record, which, if the rumors are true, should have some very notable guests on it. For the heads up, go to Pitchfork.
  • If you’re up late this Tuesday night, you can catch Band of Horses on The Conan O’Brien Show February 12th.
  • Deerhoof has announced that they are adding Ed Rodriguez (XBXRX, the Flying Luttenbachers, Sicbay, Iceburn, Colossamite) as a fourth member.
  • At The Grammys last night, Amy Winehouse (who, yes, did “show up” to perform live) took “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” and “Best Pop Vocal Album” while Kanye West won “Best Rap Solo Performance” and “Best Rap Song,” and The White Stripes claimed “Best Alternative Music Album.” For all the rest, including Barack Obama’s “Best Spoken Word Album,” check out the complete list here -- but not before watching Kanye perform the Daft Punk-errific “Stronger” before the live audience:
