Monday News: Sigur Ros + Youtube, Plug Awards + KEXP, Danger Mouse + Beck

  • Well, if you stopped by Youtube anytime on Friday, I am sure you saw that Sigur Ros had pretty much taken the place over. According to their website, they are the first band to ever release a full length documentary on Youtube. I’m guessing that to top that, somehow Radiohead will have to take over Google or something. Anyway, now you can watch their movie, Heima, in full, which you must do if you are a Sigur Ros fan. We have included the video here too, for your convenience:

Also keep tabs on their website because they are going to be uploading parts from Heima that didn’t make it into the movie as well as other cool videos.

  • If you didn’t happen to attend the PLUG Awards that were happening last Thursday night in NYC, Stereogum has a lot to say about what you missed. They took the award for Best Music Blog whil KEXP won best College/Non-Commercial Radio Station. Stereogum has the rest of the winners and a video of the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds performance.

  • Following up with the news about Pela’s recent unfortunate accident, John Richards got Billy on the phone to ask him how he was doing. Currently, he’s out of surgery, recuperating at home in a cast, and doing his best to get better. You can listen to Billy recount the details in the interview here, thanks to Pela’s website:

  • As if Danger Mouse hasn’t been busy enough (new Gnarls Barkley, The Black Keys, Ike Turner) he has been working with Beck for a new record according to a recent article from URB Magazine.
