Before coming together on the darker side of psychedelia, the members of The Black Angels came up via cult compound, mortuary, and preacher family, to name a few. Most recently, their latest album was recorded in a house two band members claim was haunted. It appears the atmosphere of their everyday lives easily translates to moody atmospherics in the studio. Having taken their name and insignia from the Velvet Underground, TBAs attempt to create a totally modern and visceral experience with their inspirations always close at hand. Clocking in at over 70 minutes, their second full length shows the band exploring the depths of its sonic layering capabilities and dynamic drones, all in preparation for a massive and overdue headlining tour. Though the album doesn’t officially hit stores until 5/13, fans can pick up a digital copy now by visiting select record stores and online retailers.
