Up & Coming on Audioasis: Skullbot, Lords of the North and Sonic Reducer’s 4-Year Anniversary

As we thank Stencil, Upchuck and Discover America for a rousing session last week (view photos here), we look ahead to another jam-packed night at the High Dive. This is a very special week as we’ll be showcasing five great bands and celebrating the 4-year anniversary of Sonic Reducer on our airwaves. And this week, not only will you -- the listener -- benefit from the aural onslaught, but by attending the show, you’ll be supporting this month’s local charity, the Environmental Coalition of South Seattle. For the past 14 years, ECOSS has been assisting businesses and individuals in working toward a cleaner, healthier environment throughout the Puget Sound region.

Starting off the Audioasis lineup will be Skullbot (6:30PM). What this young trio lacks in years, it more than makes up for in ferocity. They recently released their debut full-length, Titan, and I expect them to easily impress with their Sabbath-tinged aggro rock. Also on Audioasis this week is Lords of the North (8PM). These melodic metalheads just released their self-titled debut and look to parade those tunes around alongside the larger-than-life troll head that follows them everywhere.

As if those bands weren’t enough, Sonic Reducer hosts Brian, Nick and Mr. West gear up to bring you the best in punk and hardcore. Leading off their lineup is Chinese. You can’t get much more punk than these guys and still make people want to dance. They’ll be followed by the Primate 5, hopefully clad in ape masks as they are wont to do. Primate 5 like to decorate their lo-fi punk with surf guitars and rousing anthems. Closing out this historic event will be Warning: Danger!. Also coming from the surf side of punk, Warning: Danger! exhibits half-spoken, half-sung snarky lyrics, often about monsters.

You’d think I was advertising a Halloween party. Though not a Halloween party, this lineup promises the same shenanigans and out-of-body entertainment. Come out and support all of these great local bands and the ECOSS tonight at the High Dive. You can also soundtrack your pre-party by visiting our streaming archive and listening to past editions of both Audioasis and Sonic Reducer. See you tonight!

Just heard Lords of the North for the first time. They rock! I’m a new fan.
Thanks for playing so much good music that we can’t hear on commercial/mainstream radio.

I’m a HUGE fan of Lord of the North! I wish they would come more towards the south though! Check a band called the Pool Boy Brigade, they are new but sweet.
