Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear.Today’s featured selection, chosen by Afternoon Show host Kevin Cole, is Forgive Yourself
by The Little Ones from the 2008 self-released EP Terry Tales & Fallen Gates.
There was much to envy when LA’s The Little Ones first jumped on the indie pop scene. Their debut album was released by EMI subsidiary Astralwerks and received worthy praise. However, just when TLO were poised to unleash their long-awaited debut LP, EMI pulled the plug, forcing the band to self-release Terry Tales…, their second EP. In support of the new EP, the band just struck out on an aggressive tour with Ra Ra Riot that includes a stop at Chop Suey on 5/12 and a return visit for Memorial Day weekend’s Sasquatch Festival. More good news: it has been revealed that Morning Tide, the postponed full length, will be released this summer though the details are yet unknown. For now, those of you interested in stories from the road or acoustic recordings, can visit the band’s tour blog and download last year’s Daytrotter session. And since we all love videos, here’s one for Ordinary Song
