A couple of months ago, Billy McCarthy of Pela fell off stage and did considerable damage to his hand when he landed on a broken pint glass (concert patrons, please properly and promptly dispose of your emptied beer glasses!). As we reported, not only was the rest of the tour canceled, but then Billy needed help with his rising medical costs. Fortunately, Billy seems to be feeling better and the boys are heading back on tour, including a stop here in Seattle at the Tractor Tavern and, of course, at the Sasquatch! Music Festival. Here’s an update from the band:
Hey all. We’re eagerly awaiting the tour to kick off. It’s starts in a week in DC. We really can’t wait. We’ve got some old songs, some new songs, and some other people’s songs we can’t wait to play for you. This tour is exciting for a few reasons. Billy’s fully recovered, we get to visit all of our favorite cities, we play Sasquatch, and we get to visit Sun Studios and record and film a session there. We look forward to sharing it all with you.
That said we want to remind you tickets are selling pretty quick in a lot of cities and if you want to see a show get some of those. Also, as of now, this will be our last tour in the states for the year. We need to record more this summer for our album and we’re looking at a February 2009 release date. We’re excited to hopefully be playing some shows in Europe this fall.
When we get back from tour we look forward to filling you in on what we’ve been doing and what we’re planning for the future. Thanks again for all the support and we count down the days until we see you all.
Take care. xo-Pela
