Lose Big by Eef Barzelay from the 2008 album Lose Big on 429 Records.
If you want your child to be remembered, name them Eef. This Eef, to ensure he’s remembered for something good, honed his songwriting craft and put it to use for popular alt-country soul slingers, Clem Snide. But over the last couple years Eef has dedicated himself to his own solo material and film soundtracks. Lose Big marks Barzelay’s 2nd solo album, following 2006s Bitter Honey. After one listen to Eef’s solo work, listeners will recognize his fingerprints all over the Clem Snide catalog. Comparatively, Eef conjures a much more subdued and even more soulful pop, positioning himself perfectly for the indie soundtrack market. He more than proved his worth on last year’s Rocket Science, even resurrecting the beautiful Clem Snide tune,
I Love the Unknown. His latest contribution to the film industry is the soundtrack to this year’s Yellow Handkerchief. Now that we’re all tuned in to the wonderful combination that music and film provide following the recent SIFF Festival, I expect you all to rush out and see this one.
