Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Afternoon Show host Kevin Cole, is Dead Savior
by Joseph Arthur, as performed live on KEXP 7/22/08.
Today we celebrate Joseph Arthur in anticipation of his upcoming performance at the 6th annual KEXP BBQ, happening this Saturday. Arthur was recently in town for a show at the Triple Door and took the time to come into the studio for a short session, pulling from his endless library of songs. If you haven’t heard already, Arthur is releasing a new record at the end of September with his band, The Lonely Astronauts, entitled Temporary People. To prepare for the release of the new album, he’s released 4 new EPs since the beginning of 2008 — who does that? Axl Rose, please just surf to another page now. For those that have been paying attention but simply can’t keep up, all 4 EPs are currently available. You can pick up two other tracks from these EPs just by visiting our previous features on Arthur, here and here. Stay tuned the rest of the week as we’ll be featuring a few other bands that are rockin’ this year’s BBQ. Until then, enjoy this video of Joseph Arthur performing Pale Blue Eyes
with The Lonely Astronauts MOMAR (Museum of Modern Arthur) in Brooklyn on April 26, 2008:
