Hopefully everyone caught last week’s sets from Rocky Votolato and Champagne Champagne or at least caught Votolato’s free set at Seattle Center’s Mural Stage. We’re serving up silver platters here folks — EAT! If for whatever reason you missed the show, visit our Streaming Archive and don’t forget to repent, repent, repent. This week Hannah Levin and Lisa Wood will co-host great sets from Seattle bands Goodness and See Me River.
Much to the delight of longtime fans, Goodness (6PM) reunited for a performance at the Showbox a few weeks ago, and they’re not yet ready to call it quits again. The Carrie Akre-fronted group enjoyed moderate success in the mid-to-late ’90s, entrancing audiences with good ol’ fashioned rock ‘n’ roll and Akre’s unforgettable vocals that range from soulful to surly. Like Votolato last week, Goodness is performing (for FREE!) tonight as part of our new Concerts at the Mural Series. They’ll be joined there by Ms. Led.
Once the solo side project of Das Llamas‘ Kerry Zettel, See Me River (8PM) is now a fully formed band, thanks in part to the recent demise of Das Llamas. Instead of the angsty punk rock the Llamas thrived on, See Me River goes for a raw, ghostly Americana and nails it every time. Zettel’s previous project was deserving of greater success and it’s sad to see them go, but See Me River is a shoo-in. The band is having a CD release show 9/24 @ The Comet to celebrate their second album, Time Machine, to be made available on Aviation/Don’t Stop Believin’ Records.
