The Pool is closed ’til next summer: JellyNYC Pool Parties wrap up

Jason Bergman for JellyNYC

Sadly, the Pool Parties are over. KEXP was proud to sponsor the concert series at McCarren Park Pool in Williamsburg this year. The crowds were larger than ever, even under stormy skies or blazing sunshine, and the bands were phenomenal, including The Hold Steady, The Breeders, King Khan and the Shrines, Liars, Yo La Tengo, Ronnie Spector, and many, many others. KEXP’s own John in the Morning was there to spin between sets from The Ting Tings, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and MGMT. Amid a flailing economy, a music industry in flux, and a cultural fixation on celebrities who are famous for just being famous, these free shows with talented bands and musicians were a boon! Hold tight until next year, when the Pool Parties will be back and better than ever. Until then, enjoy these photos from JellyNYC photographer Jason Bergman:
