This is a quickie, but it holds an important lesson for future KEXP reviewers: Always write your reviews on the CD artwork, not on the jewel case! The original review of this 1990 album (album sampler, actually) by perennial weirdos and KEXP faves The Fall has been lost forever because it was written on the front of the jewel case, which then “had to” be thrown away for some reason. The mind-boggling thing, however, is the thrower-away then proceeded to stick his own review on the new jewel case! Madness, I tell you! Luckily, these second generation reviews (for what their worth) haven’t been lost to posterity like the original, but still, it’s better not to tempt the fates. Jewel cases, unlike CDs and their artwork, are fleeting, temporary things, not to be trusted.
|“John George, I had to throw away the CD case w/your comments on it — Sorry! I don’t know what to make of this yet — I need to listen to it more. It ain’t Kurios Oranj.”
“‘Telephone Thing’ is great!”
“The vocals are very Mark E. Smith. [What a surprise!) The music and production will probably surprise you. ‘Telephone Thing’ is way funky. Yes, funky.”
“Ooo, this is a good thing!”
