In celebration of Seattle’s 2008 Decibel Festival (Sept. 25-28), this week’s Audioasis will be a special all-electronic edition! DJ Alex hosts the show and he’ll be featuring the best electronic music from the Pacific Northwest, two exciting live in-studio performances, and interviews with Decibel Festival organizers!
Kicking off the show at 6pm will be a group session between Obelus, Caitlin Sherman, and ndCv! Obelus is local duo Adam Pessl and Jason Goessl. They balance midi/acoustic drums and midi/electric guitar to create atmospheric grooves and funky rhythms. Their recent releases have featured the confident, sultry vocals of Caitlin Sherman. ndCv is a fellow Seattle electronic musician who produces serene textures that recall the breezy, hypnotic touch of Boards of Canada. They’ll be keeping things fresh and lively by mixing and matching line-ups for their live performance!
At 7:00pm will be an interview with Decibel Festival organizers, who’ll be discussing everything DF and spotlighting some international artists included amongst the year’s stacked and diverse roster.
The second live in-studio performance will feature the live debut of mysterious Seattle-based musician The Sight Below. Carrying the motto “Lonely is the new dance party,” The Sight Below crafts mesmerizing ambient soundscapes before subtly tucking in a throbbing 4/4 beat amidst the swelling waves. It’s dark but ultimately hopeful, minimal but subtly complex. Tune in to be the first to hear The Sight Below create his material live for an audience!
In between these exclusive live performances, DJ Alex will be spinning the finest local electronic music, from massive club beats to soothing ambient treats.
Seattle’s electronic community is considered one of the largest and most passionate in the country. Tune in to hear the artists and personalities who have built and support our thriving hometown scene!
