Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. This week’s selections are chosen by all three of our daytime DJ’s. Today’s feature is the title track from Joseph Arthur‘s 2008 album, Temporary People, on Lonely Astronaut Records.
The final step in Joseph Arthur’s five-step program to “take over 2008″ was implemented on September 30th with the release of his most recent full-length album -- his fifth release this year -- Temporary People on Arthur’s own label, Lonely Astronaut. One of the goals of his label is to release albums often in an effort to circumvent the uphill battle of succeeding in the business of record sales, and with four of his own EPs already released this year, he seems to be as astute of a business man as he is an innovative artist, not to mention crazy-prolific! And in all, Joseph has been a strong supporter of KEXP and has been featured on the KEXP Blog regularly.
Joseph Arthur is currently half-way through a month-long tour with his band, The Lonely Astronauts, in support of Temporary People. You may be fortunate to catch him while he’s still on the road: find out where he’ll be on his MySpace page. For now, here’s the video for today’s Song Of the Day, the title track off the album and the album’s first single, which features a lot of masks. Check it out!
