Live at CMJ, Day 3: Bang Bang Eche

photos by Doron Gild

Ranging in age from 18 to 20, Bang Bang Eche have the lowest average age of any band to be featured on KEXP’s broadcast from CMJ this year. But don’t believe anything you read about these young New Zealanders — it’s very unlikely that they met at a live action role playing convention, that “eche” is “native Maori for ‘awesome partytimes,'” or that their song lyrics relate to the Mayan prophecy of the end of the world in 2012. You can believe that Bang Bang Eche’s brash and energetic dance punk will pull in larger and larger crowds during their upcoming tour of North America. They just need to all get their drivers licenses first!

In years to come you will lie to your friends that you were at CMJ 2008 and saw Bang! Bang! Eche! before they were old enough to drink!! Well at least in the USA!

It will be like when the White Stripes played Kings Arms AKLD NZ in 2000… no one actually went ….well 23 people did pay but now everyone was there…and so were all their friends!!!
