Live at CMJ, Day 5: The Physics of Meaning

photos by Doron Gild

The Physics of Meaning is the newest musical outing by Daniel Hart. Though Hart might be better known for his work with St. Vincent, John Vanderslice’s band, and as a sometimes member of The Polyphonic Spree, The Physics of Meaning is a band all its own. Drawing on a lifetime of acquired influences — years of classical violin, summers at acting camp — Hart has created a stirring take on indie rock. With a focus on character-driven narratives, Hart crafts beautiful bits of chamber rock that tell the oft-times tragic tales of a multitude of characters. The Physics of Meanings’ new album, Snake Charmer and Destiny at the Stroke of Midnight, is expected soon, and features appearances by Annie Clark of St. Vincent and Adam Baker of Annuals. The band is signed to Bu Hanan Records and is currently on a nationwide tour of the United States.
