Usually an electrified powerhouse outfit live, The Duke Spirit performed a stripped down set during their recent in-studio at KEXP and lost none of their characteristic potency. In fact, the acoustic arrangements, thanks to guitarists Luke Ford and Dan Higgins, served to emphasize the raw intensity of Leila Moss’ vocals, which fall somewhere between those of Grace Slick and PJ Harvey. And even sitting down, Moss, who is known for her dynamic stage presence, was barely contained and thoroughly captivating.
