Curse you, bronchitis! Yet another of your victims, Marc Bianchi of Her Space Holiday, was forced to cancel his performance today which would have been the second of KEXP’s broadcast from Opus Music Ventures in Berkeley, CA. Fortunately, Marc hooked us up with his friend Alex Chen, who records under the moniker Boy in Static.
A few years ago, Alex’s music landed in front of The Notwist’s Markus Acher, who released the debut of Boy in Static on his label, Alien Transistor. The next year he was supporting the Notwist side project 13 & God, with his BiS partner Kenji Ross. Another album ensued, this time on electronic-heavy Mush Records. Now, Boy in Static is an integral part of the San Francisco music scene and has performed and collaborated with a range of artists including Lymbyc Systym, Styrofoam, Future Bible Heroes and Why?.
