Although Bishop Allen takes its roots in Cambridge, MA, where long-time friends Justin Rice and Christian Rudder lived after attending college (the band name is in fact named after a street there), the band has been residing in Brooklyn for a while now. What started as a project between friends self-recording and releasing their own music, first a full-length and then a year’s worth of monthly EPs, has evolved into a more traditional studio project as they’ve just released Grrr..., their second LP on indie label Dead Oceans. You’ve likely heard their songs before, as we’ve podcast them several times (here and here), but more recently they stopped by the Morning Show with John Richards to perform some of their latest songs. Here are two -- “Cue The Elephants” and “The Ancient Common Sense of Things” -- recorded live on KEXP:
