Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch diagnosed with cancer

Beastie Boys announced by video on the band’s website that they would have to cancel some of their upcoming shows and delay their record release due to the “heavy news” that Adam Yauch, aka MCA, has a form of cancer in his parotid gland and will face surgery and radiation very soon. Joined by Adam Horovitz, aka Ad-Rock, Yauch relates the news from his studio and maintains his sense of humor while he assures everyone that the “little lump” is “localized” and “very treatable” and will only be a minor setback for the band.

Adam, there’s no need for you to apologize to us. Just get better!

I hope that MCA beats this shit and goes on loving life. I lost my father to cancer a couple years ago and am still not over it. I hope MCA comes back 200% better.

I love Adam Yauch….. It is really unfortunate for a very talented man like him to have this disease. Come back soon, Beastie Boys! And get well soon!
