Head over to the Seattle Center tonight, from 5-8 PM, for the second installment of Concerts at the Mural and catch two stars leading Seattle’s current hip hop revival: Dyme Def and Fresh Espresso.
Soon you won’t be able to call the “3 Bad Brothaaas” of Dyme Def “underground” anymore as they climb up music charts and critics’ lists with the release of their 7-song EP Panic. Tonight, fans can expect tight rhymes and high energy from this South Seattle trio, who were named “Unsigned Hype” by The Source last year. Ever at that front of the curve, Dyme Def just released a video shot exclusively on iPhones:
Seattle duo P Smoov, of Mad Rad, and MC Rik Rude infuse sexiness and soul into their sample-driven hip hop to create the unique sound that is Fresh Espresso. Just a few days ago, Smoov and Rude were joined by a beat queuing Terry Radjaw, in-studio at KEXP to preview their performance. Here’s one song from their smokin’ set:
